SOCAN is a performance rights organization dedicated to representing Canadian music creators and publishers. They ensure fair compensation for its members by licensing public performance and communication rights, collecting royalties from radio, television, live venues, and digital platforms. Registering Your Music with SOCAN

Step 1: Login to SOCAN here

Step 2: Navigate to the 'My Catalogue' menu and select 'Register My Works'

Step 3: Fill Out All Necessary Information Regarding Your Work

  1. Title & alternate titles (AKA)

  2. Duration

  3. Performers

  4. Genre

  5. Work Type

  6. If the work includes someone else's copyrighted material (Sampling/Translation)

    -If you select 'Yes' you must complete the prompted form

  7. Shareholders

    1. The 'Function' (role) of each shareholder

    2. The publishing company for each shareholder

    3. Each shareholder's affiliation with a PRO

    4. Each shareholder's share

      -All the percentages must add to 100%

      -Do not add the percentage symbol (%) in these boxes

    5. Each shareholder's IPI number

Step 4: Hit the 'Submit' button after filling out the above information
