This article is for Mogul subscribers connecting a source
Connecting a source (DistroKid, ASCAP, BMI, TuneCore, SoundExchange, and others) is available on paid Mogul plans. This guide is for subscribers whose connection attempt failed or is stuck.
Don't panic; failed connections are automatically retried
When a source connection fails, it automatically enters our retry queue. Our system will attempt to reconnect on your behalf, usually within a few hours. You don't need to do anything right away.
Why connections fail
Incorrect login credentials: the username or password entered for the source doesn't match what that source has on file. This is the most common cause.
A verification code (MFA/2FA) wasn't entered in time: many sources send a one-time code or app-based prompt during connection. If it isn't entered promptly, the connection times out and fails.
Signed in via Google/Apple/SSO instead of your direct account: if you normally log into a source through "Sign in with Google" or similar, Mogul needs that source's direct email and password, not the SSO button.
Temporary outage on the source platform.
Account permission issues: your login doesn't have full access on the source's side.
Session timeout: the connection took too long and timed out.
What to do right now
Double-check your login credentials. Go to Connected Sources, find the failed source, and re-enter the exact email/username and password you use to log into that source directly. Avoid a saved or autofilled password that may be outdated.
Watch for a verification code prompt. If the source requires MFA or a one-time code (by text, email, or authenticator app), Mogul will show a field for it during the connection (enter it as soon as you receive it). Codes expire quickly, so if it's timed out, restart the connection and try again.
Wait 2–4 hours if it looks like a platform-side outage, then retry (the queue often resolves it automatically).
Contact support if the connection still shows as failed after 24 hours. Use the chat bubble and let us know which source is failing.
Still blocked from adding a source after paying?
If your account is on a paid plan but a specific source still isn't available to connect, check your plan, as some sources are limited to specific tiers. If your plan looks correct and you're still blocked, contact support rather than retrying the connection.
Source-specific notes
DistroKid: May take 5–10 minutes. Refresh after 15 minutes if stuck. If you log into DistroKid via Google, use your DistroKid email and password directly when connecting.
TuneCore: If 2FA is enabled on your TuneCore account, watch for the verification code prompt during connection and enter it promptly.
Sony Music Artist Portal: If your catalog hasn't loaded in 24 hours, contact support, as Sony connections sometimes require manual intervention.
CD Baby: Make sure you're using your CD Baby email login, not Google SSO, unless instructed otherwise.
Will I lose any data if a connection fails?
No. A failed connection simply means we weren't able to pull your data during that attempt. Once the connection succeeds (either through retry or manual reconnection), all your data will be imported. Nothing is lost.
